B & B were baptized on Sunday... It was a situation that I probably never thought that I would be in, but it was the right one and what I wanted. NONE of my family was there. Let me re-phrase that, none of my blood family was there. I did not invite my sister or her family. I have always regretted the fact that she and her husband are the triplets godparents as they have never made any effort to guide my children spiritually and they have never gone above the obligations of aunt and uncle even once. But, my Nana guilted me into it as she did many things when she was alive and what was done was done and can not be undone...
I was NOT making that mistake again. Nana is gone and I have found a church that I love. I feel very at home at Holy Covenant. I am one of the only single women in my Sunday school class yet I never feel out of place. Everyone is just that warm and welcoming. No, the baptism was going to finally happen and it was going to happen MY WAY. So, I invited a few friends to come as my family and that would just have to do. Serene kindly showed up with her children and Mom and it was perfect. I had a family there and it was people that loved and supported me and that was all that mattered.
It was a happy day indeed!
