For the first time in many many years, I am actually going to venture out for New Year's Eve. A couple from my Sunday School class is having a party and I decided that I would go. Year after year, I stay home. Usually, I just stay at home with my kids and play games, eat snacks and watch the ball drop in New York at midnight with Dick Clark (who sadly does not even do it anymore)...New Year's ranks second to me as one of those "couple's holidays." One of the few times of the year when us single folk get to feel even WORSE for being alone. No one to kiss when it turns midnight and toast to a new better year.. I hate it. The only day worse, in my book, is Valentine's Day...
This party is going to be nice. It is "family friendly." So, the kids can come. The only thing that I am worried about is the fact that it starts at 7 PM. The twins go to bed at 7... So, I have decided that the kids will go for a short time, and then I will take them home when they get unruly and the teens can watch them while I return to the party. My friends live nearby, so it is a doable scenario...
Hoping that this will be a nice change in our holiday.. :)
